Stages of Readiness For Therapy

Some people know when they are ready for therapy, whether, it’s going to see a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, Hypnotherapist or some other person for help. These people are at their breaking point and have decided it’s time to do something about what’s bothering them. They have reached their threshold of pain. They just can’t keep living with the problem.

Statistically these people account for approximately 20% of people who have some sort of mental or physical problem and will seek help for it. So, how about the rest of the men and women who have something physically or mentally bothering them, or the other 80%?

These people fall into different stages of preparedness for therapy. There are the one’s who are in pre-contemplation, they don’t think they have a real problem and aren’t even thinking about getting help. They chalk it up to the myth of “Oh, this is so common among lots of people, it’ll just go away on its own”. Then there are the one’s who are in contemplation, they know there’s a problem and think something should be done but keep putting off dealing with it.

These two group’s of people, pre-contemplator’s and contemplator’s, with some type of physical or mental ailment fail to take action sometimes after year’s of hearing from a loved one or friend that they should seek help. And, of course, what happens is that like a car if you don’t fix a problem right away that one problem ends up causing many problem’s in the cars whole system.

Think about that, only 20% of all people who have some sort of mental or physical ailment go and seek treatment while the rest of those who need help are years away from going to get therapy that they need.

And of course the number one thing that’s keeping this problem in place is the American Medical Association and their association with big pharmaceutical companies. These two organization’s constantly advertise that the only way to get healthy is by taking a drug. And it isn’t by accident that they make it hard for hypnotherapist’s, psychotherapist’s, psychologist’s and other forms of alternative therapy to get client’s to treat.

I don’t want to put the whole blame on them, just the bulk of it. There’s also the movies, Television show’s and stage hypnotist’s who give the wrong impression about the effectiveness of hypnosis. Hypnosis is natural, drug-free and does wonders for the treatment of neurotic symptoms and in some cases psychotic symptoms as well. I only treat neuroses. Don’t let the medical name throw you it just means mental ailments that are just annoying to the point where they interrupt a person’s day to day life. Neuroses usually don’t stop all activity of a person. Psychosis is much worse and stops the healthy mental and daily functioning of a person.

In 1957 the American Medical Association and the American Psychology Association came out and legitimized the efficacy of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy and threw their reputation and money behind it. Why, because Doctor’s like Milton Erickson and other’s performed and documented  hundred’s, if not thousand’s, of case studies showing the effectiveness of hypnosis as a better treatment method than drug’s to alleviate many ailments people get.

Well once medical doctor’s started to lose more and more patient’s, and lots of money, to hypnotist’s the AMA (in 1978) rescinded any and all past endorsements of hypnosis and other alternative therapies so that they could 1) eliminate competition for client’s 2) charge outrageous fee’s for their and pharmaceutical service’s and 3) monopolize the care of any and all people with any type of ailment.

I am writing to tell anyone who reads my blog that Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy is as, if not more, effective than drug treatment for neuroses afflicting people today. It works great for weight reduction, stress relief, pain management, phobia cure, anxiety reduction, bedwetting cessation, memory enhancement, physical activity enhancement and lots of other things a person thinks about doing but is having a problem solving on their own.

Drug’s have a place and time for their use, like, when you need surgery, have a virus or a person has psychoses or schizophrenia. Hypnosis or massage and other alternative therapies can help along with drugs, but not alone, in those instances. But, if you get scared of something for no rational reason or want to reduce your weight due to un-controllable over eating or have something mentally bothering you and have tried other ways to alleviate it but have come up against a wall then hypnosis/hypnotherapy will definitely work for you.

So, don’t let movies, drug advert’s, or anyone else convince you that hypnosis or any other method of therapy doesn’t work and that only by taking drugs under a doctor’s care will you feel better. It’s not the truth. The truth is there are many way’s to get back your health and mental clarity. To me Hypnosis is the number one way to get healthy and mentally stronger. Try it once and you will be amazed at its effectiveness and it’s cheaper than going to see a doctor or year’s of analysis. Look at it as an investment that pays lots more dividends than your stock portfolio does.
